Hi there, You may encounter temporary connection-related errors when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates. I would like to confirm :Did you have installed a third-party firewall program? Is your computer in a domain using Windows Server Update Service? First of all, make sure that you can successfully access other Web sites. If you cannot successfully access other Web sites, your Internet connection may not be working correctly, and you might want to contact your Internet service provider for help. Check the net interface card /network adaptor drivers compatibility. If there is third-party firewall software or anti-virus program, which may block the update, please firstly temporarily disable the application before the following steps. Make sure that Windows Firewall is turned offa. Click Start, click Control Panel, click System and Security, and then click Windows Firewall.b. Click Turn Windows Firewall on or off in the navigation pane on the left. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.c. Make sure that the Turn off Windows Firewall option is selected for both the Home or work (private) network location settings and the Public network locations settings, and then click OK.Try to install updates againIf this method resolved your issue and you were able to install updates successfully, you should re-enable your third-party firewall if it is still disabled. If your computer is in a domain or using proxy server, you may check the proxy connection settings to make sure it is correct. 1.Start Windows Internet Explorer. 2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. 3. Click the Connection tab, and then click LAN settings. Check the ”Proxy server ” settings. If the computer cannot connect to the WSUS server of the domain you can also contact domain Administrator for help.

Sorry for reply delay.Firstly, it sounds your computer is in a domain in which there is WSUS Server. Can you see the roadmap of your Network Map(Control Panel>Network and Internet>Network Map) What is your access to Internet? You can go to Update history (Start->All Programs->Windows Update->view update History) to obtain more information.(Windows Update Agent 7.XXX should be installed successfully.)Meanwhile, did you ever run as a WSUS client, or just connect to the Server? It may write a record on your hosts file. How did you inactive the WSUS server? To remove entries from the hosts file, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, and then click Run.2. Copy and then paste (or type) the following command in the Run box, and then press ENTER:notepad %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hostsNote If you are prompted to select a program to open the hosts file, click Notepad, click to select the Always use the selected program option, and then click OK.3. In Notepad, remove or remark any lines in the hosts file that contain entries for Windows Update so that they are not read when the file is accessed. To do this, put the number sign (#) in front of any line that contains "microsoft" and "update." For example, add the number sign (#) to the beginning of the following entries: o # 64.4.21.125 http://update.microsoft.como # 64.4.21.125 http://windowsupdate.microsoft.como # http://update.microsoft.com4. On the File menu, click Save.5. Exit Notepad.6. Restart the computer.Note If you do not want to restart the computer, you can also flush the DNS resolver cache. To do this, follow these steps:a. Click Start, and then click Run.b. Type cmd in the Run box, and then press ENTER.c. At the command prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns, and then press ENTER.
